Why do people wax?
The reasons are truly endless. An interest in enhancing sexual pleasure, being more hygienic, an improved appearance and feel, sports benefits for athletes (swimmers, cyclers)... People find that beautifully smooth skin is easier to maintain and more comfortable than shaving every day, not to mention worrying about that unattractive razor stubble.

Who waxes?
Anyone wanting to rid themselves of unwanted hair ... male, female, young, old, married, single, blue collar, white collar, you, me, us, and them. It's really across the board.

Does it hurt?
Ever snap a rubber band to your wrist? That's what it feels like ... it's immediate and the discomfort diminishes quickly. Waxing hurts the most the first time. When you return for this service again, there will be less hair to remove, thus less discomfort.

Pain? Yikes! What can I do?
If discomfort is your concern, here are a few tips: 1) Relax. Take a deep breath or three. Don't work yourself into a tizzy. 2) Don't get jacked up on caffeine, it only heightens your sensitivity. 3) Some people say that taking Ibuprofen 30 minutes before their appointment helps take the edge off. 4) For us females, the most sensitive time of the month is the first few days before and after starting our menstrual cycle. Consider yourself warned and schedule yourself appropriately. (Yes, you can be waxed during your menstrual cycle. If you find yourself in this situation, don't worry, you don't need to give up your appointment at the Wax Bar. Just come in clean, use a fresh tampon, and we'll git 'er done.)

How long will it last?
Most people wax every 4 weeks with great success. For best results, 3 weeks of hair growth is recommended. Your legs will not be smooth after your very first visit. We have 3 stages of hair growth and need at least 4-6 waxing services, 4 weeks apart, to have your legs stay beautifully smooth for the longest amount of time. Yes, it is a commitment but you will love the results. Go ahead ... toss that razor!

Are there reactions?
Yes. The upper lip, back, chest and bikini are areas that commonly breakout. Reactions can occur anywhere, though. If you have a tendency towards reactions (ingrowns, breakouts, irritation) from shaving, you are more likely to have the same reactions waxing. You must use proper home care and come in on a regular schedule to minimize these reactions.

A bit of education on your new hair growth...
The key here is NEW hair growth. There are 3 stages of hair growth and each individual hair is on 1 of the 3 stages. When a hair is removed from its follicle it stimulates the growth, or regeneration, of the next hair. The goal with waxing is to synchronize the stages of hair growth so the hairs are regenerated on roughly the same cycle. Therefore, over time, if you are consistent with your waxings, you will have longer periods of smoothness.

One last note about waxing...
After your first waxing, you may notice hair growth. This is common and completely normal. I ask that you be patient. Don't tweeze, shave, or use a depilatory cream. Purchase and use the recommended home care products. Come in every 4-5 weeks like clockwork. Doing these things will maximize the benefits and you will love your beautifully smooth skin even more than you do now!

Oh ... one more thing...
If you are scheduled for Intimate Waxing, you need to disrobe (yes, that means getting buck naked) from the waist down. There's just no way around it. Leave your modesty at the door and pick it up on your way out. Let me repeat that. Leave your modesty at the door and pick it up on your way out. I am big on hygiene so please arrive for your appointment clean (and on time) or I may decline your service. I will provide you with a personal wipe to freshen up and a towel to wrap about you. Yes, you can be waxed during your menstrual cycle. If you find yourself in this situation, don't worry, you don't need to give up your appointment at the Wax Bar. Just come in clean, use a fresh tampon, and we'll git 'er done. I am also big on confidentiality ... everything is held in the strictest of confidence.
